Flipdaddy's

Flipdaddy’s is a fairly recent arrival in the local burger parade. Located at 7453 Wooster Pike just east of Mariemont, they offer up a full array of burgers and a large selection of beers. Now we didn’t drink any beer on this trip because one of us isn’t allowed to have any and the other is only 17. They can be found on the web at flipdaddys.com.
Josh’s Review
Flipdaddy's, as a restaurant it doesn't seem to stand out much from your average sports bar. A friendly atmosphere, good enough service, and a fairly well designed menu, it seems to be the same. What differentiates this chain from others is the signature burger known as the Flipdaddy's. Once the one third of a pound of beef was placed on the table I instantly began to realize why this burger was well recommenced.
As I take my first bite I'm am pleasantly surprised by the freshness of the garden. Despite it being the off season for most gardens Flipdaddy's goes all out to acquire a fresh garden no matter the time of year. The beef itself was fantastic, it was juicy, had a great texture, plenty of flavor, and was complimented, not overpowered, by the garden.
My only true concern was the bun, it seemed a bit hard, it was nowhere near enough to take away from the flavor of the burger, just a small annoyance that was quickly cast aside by the pure taste. If you add that to fresh-cut and well-seasoned fries, then you have a great meal for a fairly reasonable price, just over 20 bucks for two one-third pound patties. Overall I give a big recommendation to Flipdaddy's; they know how to make one very tasty burger. So if you happen to be one near it and you’re hungry, stop by and give a shot, hopefully you will be as pleasantly surprised as I was.
Mark’s Review
For my burger I chose the standard Flipdaddy’s Burger, a proprietary 1/3 pound blend of ground chuck, brisket and short rib. I have to say this is a tasty marriage of meat. The burger was juicy and plump and dripped just enough to make me feel as though I had accomplished something by polishing it off. The main drawback for me was the bun. Mine was a little hard and it broke up during the eating, two signs of it being a little old. I spoke to the owner who apologized and admitted that he was still looking for a good bun to compliment the meat.
I topped my burger with one of my favorite cheeses, provolone. It was a thin slice that melted perfectly and added just that perfect hint of flavor. The shredded lettuce was cool and crunchy and wasn’t loaded on to the point of overtaking the bun the way it is in some restaurants. My tomato, considering it was early March, was actually pretty good. Wherever they’re getting their produce from it was as fresh as could be expected for this time of year. It will be interesting to go back during tomato season and see what they have. Condiments were the traditional store bought brands. Nothing fancy there.
One thing that was a pleasant surprise was the fries. They tasted very fresh and looked to be freshly cut. There wasn’t any of that leftover frozen funk from which lots of restaurant fries suffer.
The service was very good. We were seated immediately and our server arrived within a minute or so to take our drink order. Once we had looked over the menu and put in our lunch order we chatted and watched a little basketball and in short order the burgers arrived.
Flipdaddy’s atmosphere is difficult to define. The décor is pretty sterile with very little on the walls and some not so great looking fake stone blocking the entrance to the kitchen. Everything, though, is clean and new. The music that was playing was hard to define or slot into a category. It drifted somewhere between elevator music and what would pass for techno Christmas carols.
The men’s room has a nice poster listing a number of good Chuck Norris jokes which was refreshing to look at while tending to business in there. The Chuck Norris theme, by the way, is continued on the menu with The Chuck Norris burger which adds on their secret spicy signature sauce, green chile and jalapeno compote and pepperjack cheese. This burger calls for a return trip to savor the kick.
Our Flipdaddy’s Burgers were $8 each and the total bill was $22.88. Overall not a bad burger experience.
